Mammoet is looking for an Internal Control Manager with strong interest in and experience with risk management, design of business processes and internal controls. The Global Internal Control Manager will ensure that risks are identified and considered in the development of the business going forward, are proactively managed to balance both the risk and desired level of internal control. The Global Internal Control Manager reports to the Head of Internal Audit & Internal Control, and acts in close contact with the SHV Holding Internal Control function. The position is based at Mammoet’s office in Utrecht, and it is expected that you will be travelling internationally approximately 10% of your time.

Purpose of the job:

In this challenging position you will work closely together with the Regional Internal Control Managers to fulfill the mission of Internal Control. The primary mission of Internal Control is to be a recognized business partner for continuous improvement. This is achieved by coordinating and facilitating group-wide risk management and process improvement workshops, risk assessments on both local and board level, as well as related design, implementation and testing of key measures, policies and procedures. In addition, Mammoet Internal Control is built around the evolving structure of the Mammoet Business Support Framework (BSF), which is based on the core business values and objectives of SHV Holding complemented with the Mammoet business control essentials.

Roles and responsibilities:

The role and responsibilities are broad and include, but are not limited to:

  • Develop an internal control culture and establish control ownership within Mammoet;
  • Develop and embed an effective Risk Management framework within Mammoet. The Risk Management framework should enable the identification, assessment, mitigation, monitoring and reporting of risk and the management of those exposures to a level consistent with the risk appetite;
  • Assist stakeholders in their responsibility to understand and monitor the risks faced by the business, and thereby preserve our business and the health and well-being of our customers and employees, and comply with internal and external policies and regulations.
  • Develop and adapt the Mammoet internal control framework to the (local) processes and risks.
  • Coordinate/support the semi-annual BSF self-assessment of the Holding and Regions. The BSF self-assessment concerns the self-assessment by control owners against the group policies and guidelines as documented in the Business Support Framework.

Key Results Areas:

  • Experience with the establishment of an Enterprise Risk Management framework, as well as all the related tools, practices and policies as to effectively monitor risk-related programs and decision making;
  • Brings proven skills to effectively, regularly and compellingly report on risk to the Head of Internal Audit & Internal Control, EBM and the stakeholders at SHV Holding. Has the ability to translate risk-related data into meaningful and insightful information for business decision making;
  • Experienced in translating the risk management strategy and the internal control objectives into clear and achievable accountabilities and targets for regional and functional management.
  • Create added value to the business through innovative recommendations and participating in projects that are related to Internal Control and Risk Management;
  • Perform reviews concerning the quality of self-assessments by the various regions with respect to the Mammoet Internal Control Framework. Also advise on controls that could be eligible for inclusion in the BSF going forward;
  • Align, connect with and support key stakeholders;
  • Closely monitor follow-up of observations.

Requirements

Education and experience:

  • Masters in Economics, Business Administration, Accountancy, Business Studies or equivalent;
  • Experience in Internal Control and/or Big 4 background preferably in the risk management area;
  • Understanding of Risk Management structures and methodologies;
  • General understanding of IT / data risks and systems;
  • Proven track record (>8 years of experience) in corporate Internal Control and Risk Management, with a recognized sensitivity for balancing business risks with business opportunities;
  • Brings experience with the design, continuous development and maintenance of a comprehensive internal control framework, aligned with the company’s strategy, business objectives, and related risks;
  • Relevant experience with international project business is a plus;
  • Willing to travel 10%.
