The Group Internal Audit (GIA) function within Nutreco is primarily responsible for the monitoring of control measures throughout the company. Next to operational and financial audits and reviews, GIA performs IT audits and other specific engagements. The mission of Internal Audit at Nutreco is to enhance and protect organizational value by providing risk-based and objective assurance, advice, and insight. GIA supports the business to further improve and stimulates continuous improvement. The GIA department consists of 8 people. The Director GIA reports in a dual reporting line to the CEO of Nutreco and the Internal Audit Director of SHV Holdings.

Nutreco is looking for a new Group IT Auditor with strong affinity and experience with IT auditing as well as financial/operational audits to strengthen the team. The main role of the Group IT Auditor will be executing the IT Audit activities on a wide range of IT audit objects. This relates to field of IT processes, infrastructure and business applications, as well as IT projects, change programs and outsourced IT services. Performing IT audits includes identifying and recommending on opportunities to improve existing systems of internal controls and endorses best practice solutions (e.g. increasing use of new technologies like Data Analytics and Process Mining). The Group IT Auditor will also participate in financial/operational audits. Strong affinity with internal business controls is a key differentiator.

The new Group IT Auditor will be part of highly motivated audit team. The position is based in Nutreco’s office in Amersfoort and to a lesser extent in Boxmeer, and the person will be travelling internationally up to 15-25%. The Group IT Auditor has close contacts with the other auditors and different key stakeholders, including IT managers and officers, management of operating companies, controllers (business unit and operating company level), shared service centres and corporate departments.

This is a demanding role for a professional who is able to support Group Internal Audit’s overall role in a dynamic environment. In the longer run, the role allows for an expansion in activities and responsibilities. The Group IT Auditor will work closely together and will receive training on the job primarily from the Manager IT Audit and the financial/operational internal auditors.

Tasks and responsibilities include amongst others:

  • Participate in planning and executing audit and review engagements, prepare reports about the related findings and recommendations, provide feedback to the auditees, management and the internal clients. Most of the engagements will be IT-related; the other engagements will mainly consist of Financial/Operational audits and reviews.
  • Draw up reports (English) including presenting the audit conclusions and recommendations to management, in order to facilitate improvements to the (IT) internal control environment.
  • Take responsibility for a correct and systematic recording of audit work performed.
  • Advise and assist the business to comply with internal and external standards and legislation.
  • Contribute and participate in (corporate) projects to support and advice.
  • Create added value to the business through innovative recommendations and participating in projects that are related to internal audit.
  • Development and implementation of adequate auditing techniques throughout the corporation to assure that policies, procedures and processes are executed according to the company’s strategy and national and international legislation.


  • Masters degree supplemented with audit education (RE, CISA, CIA or similar) or willingness to obtain audit certification.
  • Knowledge of/experience in financial/operational controls is a pré.
  • 3-5 years audit experience, preferably acquired within one of the Big 4 Audit Firms or international companies.
  • Good knowledge of auditing standards, accepted techniques and procedures – especially in the IT domain (COBIT, Data Analytics, Process Mining, etc.).
  • Languages: fluent in English (both verbally and in writing). Dutch and/or Spanish are preferred.
  • Good understanding and knowledge; primarily of IT processes, but also regarding financial/operational processes and controls and enterprise risk management.
  • Willing and able to travel when necessary.
  • Genuine and committed team player who can work independently at the same time.
